Our History

Pointcore is the product of years of strategic investment in healthcare innovation. Our commitment to improvement through innovation has led to the development of many new services and a continuous drive for advancement throughout our long history, ultimately benefiting the communities we serve.

Hospital care locations are started by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.
The Sisters were founded in Peoria, IL on July 16, 1877. Throughout the late 1800s and 1900s, the Sisters opened several hospital locations in Illinois and Michigan, many of which are still in use today.

The for-profit corporation, Saint Francis, Inc, is established by the Sisters as a path to further their healthcare mission.
This Illinois corporation was organized to provide service, generate new revenue sources and increase profits. The service lines they provided included Ambulance, Physician Practice, Home Care, Surgery Center and more.

Modern care services are formed under the new moniker, OSF Saint Francis, Inc.
This new brand also brought with it new service lines, including Aviation, Retail Pharmacy, Marketplace, Health Management, Direct Access Network (DAN) and more.

Capabilities are expanded by OSF Saint Francis, Inc. joining the OSF HealthCare System.
OSF HealthCare is one of the nation’s leading healthcare organizations that works to bring better health in our communities while consistently offering excellent patient care and lower costs.

The technology used in healthcare is prioritized as a focus area for care, as OSF HealthCare establishes Pointcore, LLC.
Founded as a subsidiary of OSF, Pointcore begins to provide innovative technology solutions to the health system.

Pointcore's focus on healthcare operations is aimed at driving positive change through the launch of five key areas.
Pointcore’s five core service areas are technology, healthcare technology management (HTM), supply chain, construction and business services.

Pointcore becomes Epic Connect Accredited for the first time, extending the benefits of the nation’s #1 EHR system to external clients.
This accreditation allows Pointcore to host clients on our instance of Epic, extending the benefits of Epic to those who cannot obtain Epic directly due to lack of scale and resources.
Hosting through the Epic Community Connect program is a cost-effective solution, enabling clients to provide the best patient care possible while maintaining their independence.

Pointcore holds its first ever Pointcore CONNECT Conference.
Pointcore clients and partners as well as OSF HealthCare employees come together to learn how to collaborate on healthcare transformation.

Pointcore expands its business solutions with the launch of Pointcore Graphic Solutions.
With the launch of this new business, Pointcore expands its capabilities to include signage, promotions, printing and recognition services. Pointcore Graphic Solutions offers our healthcare clients cost-effective solutions for all their signage and promotional branding needs.

Pointcore is recognized by Epic for achieving the fastest overall performance among all large customers, of which Pointcore is in the top 10 percent.
This groundbreaking accomplishment highlights Pointcore’s innovative approach in chart navigation for clinicians and patients, translating into substantial cost savings for both Pointcore and OSF HealthCare.

Pointcore is a wholly owned subsidiary of OSF HealthCare, a large, integrated health system based in Peoria, Illinois. OSF HealthCare was founded by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and employs over 24,000 people. The health system operates 16 hospitals with a total of 2,134 licensed beds across 159 locations in Illinois and Michigan. OSF HealthCare also offers a variety of other services, including colleges of nursing, home health services, philanthropic foundations and more.
